Getting there, slowly...

It's hard to believe there are only a few days left in 2008. The time has come so soon...we are due to drop the LC off on Jan 5th. It goes into customs and then into a container to be shipped to Chennai, India. There still seems to be so much to do, and so little time. Our 'to-do-list' is definitely getting smaller but we are aware of big jobs (like the new fuel transfer pump) that need seeing to. Today I (Amelia) am sewing the new zip onto the roof tent, then picking up the new cover. We had to get one shipped from South Africa and have been told by a guy who makes tents and swags out of canvas that they are always being asked to make new covers for roof tents. So it's not just us...

The new bull bar is on the car as of yesterday and Andrew has designed a handy cargo net system in the back. It will hold our coats etc against the roof, saving space in our boxes. The new drawers are also finished, and slide in and out perfectly....finally. We need to make a list of tips and hints we've learned along the way. The issue of using wax/silicone on the tent zips is debatable, with manufacturers having differing opinions. We shall see.

Melbourne mid December 2008

This blog begins with us in Melbourne, readying ourselves and our 60 series Landcruiser for an adventure through India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and an undecided route through Europe back to the United Kingdom. The LC has traveled to here via the west coast of Africa, and is about to return home.
